Coventry arrive in the Premier League as one of the cheapest squads in the game — but they've strengthened in a way that actually matters. The standout summer arrival is Awoniyi at £5.5m, in from Nottingham Forest with proven top-flight quality, and he's instantly their best FPL pick by a distance. Sidiki Cherif adds further attacking depth at £5.0m. Grimes brings set-piece delivery that turns cheap defenders into occasional point-scorers, and the back line stays priced at £4.0m across the board — classic enabler-club territory.

Coventry's ceiling has genuinely risen with Awoniyi's arrival. 10 Premier League goals for Forest last season, first-choice striker, likely penalty taker — he's the clear source of Coventry goals now. Wright, Torp, Tchaouna and Mason-Clark, all in the £5.0-5.5m range, are the cheaper secondary routes if you want exposure without paying up.

This is the whole reason to look at Coventry. Wilson at £4.5m in goal, and an entire back line priced at £4.0m — Thomas, Kitching, Woolfenden, van Ewijk, Da Silva and Latibeaudiere — gives you about the cheapest squad filler available anywhere. Van Ewijk is the pick of them for attacking full-back upside, and honestly any £4.0m defender who nails down a starting spot is a genuinely useful enabler.

I wouldn't captain a Coventry player. As a newly promoted side with the lowest-priced squad in the division, there's no realistic scenario where their ceiling justifies a doubled score. The armband belongs on a premium forward or midfielder from an established side — Coventry assets earn their squad place through price, not through hauls.

Awoniyi at £5.5m is the standout differential — expect low ownership given Coventry's newly-promoted status, but he carries genuine Premier League goal threat regardless. Rudoni and Torp, in the £5.0-5.5m range, are the midfielders most likely to chip in with goals when the fixture suits. Sakamoto at £4.9m is the wildcard wide option worth a flutter.

Awoniyi is really the only Coventry attacker worth a season-long hold — the rest of the forward line rotates and is best left alone. Their defenders are worth owning for the £4.0m price tag, not for clean sheets, which will be rare against top-half opposition. Outside Awoniyi, I'd treat this whole squad as enabler material rather than a source of points.
