Newcastle's squad this season is uniquely flat — not one player priced above £6.0m, after losing Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal, Alexander Isak to Liverpool, plus Kieran Trippier, Sandro Tonali and Miguel Almirón besides. The attack splits three ways between Wissa, Osula and Woltemade (all £6.0m) for the striker role, with Elanga, Barnes and Murphy (also £6.0m) and Touré (£5.8m) spread across wide midfield. Pope at £4.9m is the dependable goalkeeper, and the defence — Botman, Livramento, Hall, Schär, Thiaw and Burn, every one of them at £5.0m — is as uniformly priced as it is well-organised. There's no real premium asset here this season — £6.0m is the hard ceiling. Elanga, Barnes and Murphy are the closest thing to it, with Elanga and Barnes the two standouts for direct goal threat. Wissa is the most convincing of the three striker options once he actually wins the starting shirt. Miley and Joelinton at £5.4m are the slightly cheaper midfield alternatives, with defensive contribution points as a bonus.

This is the most uniformly priced defence in the league, and genuinely good value for it. Botman, Livramento, Hall, Schär, Thiaw and Burn all sit at exactly £5.0m behind real defensive organisation, and Pope at £4.9m is a strong budget goalkeeper who racks up save points on top. Livramento and Hall are the two worth targeting for attacking full-back upside. Ramsey and Bamba at £4.9m are the cheapest midfield routes in.

Honestly, there's no reliable captaincy option at Newcastle this season. Nothing above £6.0m, and a three-way striker rotation between Wissa, Osula and Woltemade means nobody has the ceiling a doubled score really needs. In an exceptional home fixture, Elanga or Barnes can work as a differential armband if you're chasing rank, but in a normal week I'd put the captaincy somewhere else entirely.

Elanga and Barnes at £6.0m are the differentials worth knowing — pace, direct threat, real goal potential, all at very low ownership. Touré at £5.8m and Miley and Joelinton at £5.4m are the cheaper creative picks. Ramsey at £4.9m is the late-arriving box-to-box midfielder, underrated by anyone who wasn't already tracking him at Aston Villa.

The striker slot is a genuine three-way rotation between Wissa, Osula and Woltemade — never own more than one, and only once you've confirmed the starting XI. The wide positions are just as congested, with Murphy, Elanga, Barnes and Touré all competing for two berths. I'd avoid stacking Newcastle attackers when fixtures turn difficult, and stay cautious about their record against the top six.
