Granit Xhaka and Enzo Le Fée give the midfield genuine control, Brian Brobbey and Wilson Isidor lead the line, and the recruitment of Nordi Mukiele, Reinildo Mandava and Thomas Meunier means the back line is stocked with players who have defended at the top level. For fantasy managers this is the rare promoted team where the assets are worth owning on merit, not just as budget filler.

Sunderland have no true premium bracket — the squad tops out around £6.0m, which is exactly the appeal. Enzo Le Fée (£6.0m) and Brian Brobbey (£6.0m) are the headline picks: Le Fée as the creative hub who dictates tempo and takes set pieces, Brobbey as the physical focal point who occupies centre-backs and gets on the end of crosses. Granit Xhaka at £5.5m is the safest minutes bet in the entire squad.

This is where Sunderland earn their place in most squads. Robin Roefs at £5.0m in goal and a back line that includes Trai Hume, Danny Ballard and Jenson Seelt at £4.5–5.0m gives you clean-sheet exposure for almost nothing. Luke O'Nien, Arthur Masuaku and Leo Hjelde at £4.0m are pure enablers — the kind of bench fodder that funds a premium forward elsewhere in your team.

Sunderland are not a captaincy side in most gameweeks — their ceiling is lower than the sides above them, and armbands belong on players who can return double-digit hauls. The exception is a home fixture against a bottom-six opponent, where Brobbey or Le Fée become defensible punts in a differential-hunting rank chase. Otherwise keep the armband on a premium attacker elsewhere.

Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra (both £5.0–5.5m) are the classic low-ownership Sunderland plays — wide attackers who can produce a goal-and-assist haul from nowhere.
