Everton's fantasy value sits in midfield and defence, not up front. Dewsbury-Hall leads the squad at £6.5m, now joined by Jack Grealish at the same price after his move from Man City. Tarkowski and Garner sit at £6.0m, with Iliman Ndiaye having departed the other way, to City. Tarkowski's price is steep for a defender, reflecting genuine aerial threat from corners on top of the clean sheets, and Pickford at £5.5m is the established goalkeeper. The weak spot is the forward line — Barry and Beto both cost £5.5m, and neither has a settled claim on the shirt.

Dewsbury-Hall at £6.5m is the most expensive Everton asset and the best route into their returns, arriving late into the box from midfield. Grealish, at the same price after his move from City, is the headline summer arrival and gives Everton genuine wide creativity that went missing when Ndiaye left. Tarkowski at £6.0m is the premium defensive pick — pricey for a defender at a mid-table club, but justified by real aerial threat from corners layered on top of a strong clean-sheet record.

This is where Everton's real value sits. Aznou at £4.0m is the cheapest way in, with Patterson and Mykolenko at £4.5m and Keane and O'Brien at £4.9m. Branthwaite at £5.5m is the more established centre-back. King at £4.5m and Travers at £5.0m are budget goalkeeper cover behind Pickford. Patterson and Mykolenko are the two worth targeting for attacking full-back upside.

Everton aren't really a captaincy side. Nothing above £6.5m and no settled centre-forward means there's no Everton asset with the ceiling a doubled score actually needs. Dewsbury-Hall at home to bottom-half opposition is the most defensible differential armband if you're chasing rank, but in a normal week I'd put the captaincy on a premium attacker at a side that scores more freely.

Dibling and George at £5.5m are the low-ownership young attackers with the most upside once they lock down starts. Hackney at £5.5m offers midfield returns, and Garner at £6.0m is the mid-price differential with genuine goal threat from range. Brennan Johnson, in from Crystal Palace at £5.9m, is the most interesting new name — productive at Palace, now with a fresh stage. Nørgaard at £4.9m is the deepest-lying midfield enabler, guaranteed minutes plus defensive contribution points on the side.

The centre-forward slot is the clearest thing to avoid. Barry and Beto both cost £5.5m and split the role between them, which means neither offers reliable minutes and Everton still lack a genuine goal source. Don't spend a squad slot chasing it. The midfield is congested too, around £5.0-5.5m. Everton's real strength is clean sheets, so I'd weight exposure toward their defence rather than the attack.
