Hull City FPL Guide 2026/27

Hull come up with a squad built around experience, and they've added real quality over the summer. Butland is the standout FPL asset — a Premier League goalkeeper at £4.5m who's going to face a genuinely high shot volume. Gelhardt, in from Leeds, arrives as the new first-choice striker, and Gourna-Douath joins in central midfield. A back line featuring Egan, McNair and Ajayi has plenty of top-flight mileage between them. For fantasy purposes Hull are mostly an enabler squad, with Butland and Gelhardt the two genuine points-scoring options worth knowing.

Hull top out at £5.5m. Gelhardt at £5.0m is the first-choice striker and the most direct route to attacking returns — more mobile than the alternative, with a better goal record behind him. Gourna-Douath adds control in midfield at the same price. Ömür, Millar and Kamara, all around £5.0m, are the creative options — pick whichever is actually starting rather than committing to a name in advance.

Butland at £4.5m is the headline here. Goalkeepers at promoted sides face a lot of shots, and save points pile up even in defeats — he can genuinely outscore keepers costing £1.0m more, purely on workload. The rest of the defence sits uniformly at £4.0m: Giles, Hughes, Egan, Coyle, Drameh and McNair are all rock-bottom price. Giles is the pick for set-piece delivery and attacking full-back upside.

Hull aren't a captaincy option in any gameweek. A newly-promoted side with a £5.5m ceiling isn't going to deliver the haul a doubled score demands. Keep the armband on a premium attacker from an established side, and use Hull assets — Butland especially — as the cheap foundation the rest of your squad is built on.

Butland himself might be the best differential in the squad — a high-save-volume keeper at enabler price that very few managers will actually own. Gelhardt is the second one worth knowing: low ownership given Hull's newly-promoted status, but genuine goal threat carried up from the Championship. Kamara and Belloumi, both around £5.0m, are the attacking wildcards if either locks down a role.

I'd avoid Hull defenders as a clean-sheet play — a promoted side will keep few of them, and even at £4.0m, a defender who never returns is still a wasted slot next to a cheap defender at a more solid mid-table club. The midfield is heavily congested too, nine players priced £4.5-5.0m fighting for places, which makes minutes genuinely hard to call. Don't chase Hull's attacking returns — own the goalkeeper and spend your money elsewhere.
