Hull City come up with a squad built around experience rather than expensive talent. Jack Butland is the standout — a goalkeeper with substantial Premier League and international pedigree priced at just £4.5m, which is the single most compelling reason to look at the Tigers. Oliver McBurnie leads the line, and a back line featuring John Egan, Paddy McNair and Semi Ajayi has plenty of top-flight mileage. For fantasy purposes Hull are an enabler squad with one genuinely useful asset in goal.

Hull top out at £5.5m, so there is no premium tier to speak of. Oliver McBurnie (£5.5m) is the first-choice striker and the most direct route to attacking returns, though as a target man at a promoted side his goal expectation is modest. Abdülkadir Ömür, Liam Millar, Abu Kamara and Mohamed Belloumi (all £5.0m) are the creative midfielders — pick whichever is starting rather than committing in advance.

Jack Butland at £4.5m is the headline. Goalkeepers at promoted sides face high shot volumes, and save points accumulate even in defeats — he can outscore keepers costing £1.0m more purely on workload. The outfield squad is uniformly £4.0m across the defence: Ryan Giles, Charlie Hughes, John Egan, Lewie Coyle, Cody Drameh and Paddy McNair are all rock-bottom price. Giles is the pick for set-piece delivery and attacking full-back upside.

Hull are not a captaincy option in any gameweek. A newly promoted side with a £5.5m ceiling will not deliver the doubled haul the armband demands. Keep the captaincy on a premium attacker from an established side and use Hull assets — chiefly Butland — as the cheap foundation your expensive picks are built on.
