Step by step

1

🧩 Pick your 15

Choose 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards, 15 players in total, inside a 100.0m budget, with a maximum of 3 players from any one club. In a hurry? Tap ✨ Auto-pick and the assistant builds a legal squad for you, then tweak whatever you like.

2

⚽ Set your Starting XI

11 players start and 4 sit on the bench. Any formation is allowed as long as you field exactly 1 goalkeeper, 3-5 defenders, 2-5 midfielders and 1-3 forwards. One goalkeeper must always stay on the bench, and your bench is ordered 1-4 for automatic substitutions.

3

👑 Choose a captain

Your captain scores double (2×): the biggest single swing in the game. There is no vice-captain in Gameweek Fantasy, because you can move the armband as many times as you like, free of charge, right up until that player’s match kicks off, you never need a backup. If a lineup goes against you, just re-captain someone who hasn’t played yet.

4

🔒 Players lock at their own kickoff

This is what makes Gameweek Fantasy different. Your squad is not frozen at one deadline. Each player locks individually the moment their own club kicks off. Anyone whose match hasn’t started yet is still fully editable.

5

⇄ Change players before they play

Manager left your striker on the bench in the announced lineup? Swap him for anyone else in that position while his club hasn’t kicked off, free, unlimited, no points hit. This is the single most powerful habit in the game: check back before each day’s fixtures.

6

↔️ Cut your losses, but never with hindsight

One rule: you can always GIVE UP on a player, never GAIN from hindsight. If a starter has already played badly (even full-time), bench them any time — that only throws away points you already know about. But whoever comes ON for them must not have kicked off yet, so you can never bring in someone whose result you already know. Same formation rules apply either way.

7

🤖 Automatic substitutions

If you make no manual moves, auto-subs run when the gameweek ends. Any starter who didn’t play is replaced by the first bench player (in bench order 1→4) who did play and who keeps your formation legal. If no legal swap exists, no substitution happens.

8

🏆 Climb the leagues

Every manager who enters is automatically added to the season-long Global league. Create your own private friends league in one tap, share the invite code, link or QR, or spin one up from your Group. All league tables rank you on your cumulative points across every gameweek.

A worked example

Friday. Liverpool play Chelsea. Your Liverpool and Chelsea players lock at kickoff and start scoring. Everyone else in your squad is still editable.

Saturday morning. Manchester City announce their lineup and your midfielder is benched. Because City haven’t kicked off, you swap him for another midfielder who is starting: free, no penalty.

Saturday afternoon. Your bench forward plays on Sunday and you fancy him more than the defender you have starting in Sunday’s late game. Neither has kicked off, so you promote the forward and drop the defender to the bench. (Your Liverpool winger from Friday can’t be moved now. His match is done and he keeps his place in the XI, where his points count.)

Sunday. Before the late kickoff you move the armband onto a striker with a favourable fixture. He scores twice, doubled. That’s the game.

Scoring

From Gameweek 2, Premier League gameweeks use official matchday scoring (table below). Gameweek 1 keeps FootballDream extended statistics for the launch week. Player Draft uses matchday scoring for every Premier League gameweek.

Bonus points: the top three performers in each fixture earn +3, +2 and +1 based on overall match contribution. Bonus is added after full time — refresh your squad once it lands.

Captain
Your captain scores 2 times their points, rounded to the nearest whole point. They must be in your starting eleven. There is no vice-captain in Gameweek Fantasy — because every player stays editable until their own club kicks off, you can simply move the armband whenever a lineup goes against you.

Five winning habits

  • Come back before every kickoff. The managers who check lineups and adjust are the ones who win. That is the whole point of per-player locks.
  • Spread your locks across days. A squad whose players all kick off on Friday gives you no flexibility for the rest of the gameweek.
  • Keep a late-fixture bench. Bench players who play last stay swappable the longest, so they give you the most options, and they are the ones auto-subs can still cash in at the end.
  • Captain late where you can. A captain playing on Sunday lets you react to everything that happened before.
  • Fund your attack. Budget defenders and a cheap keeper free up money for the premium forwards who decide gameweeks.

❓Gameweek Fantasy FAQ

Yes. Each gameweek is a fresh 15-player squad, so a bad week never follows you. Your league tables then add up your points across all the gameweeks you’ve played, so consistency wins the season.

No. Within a gameweek you can change any player whose match hasn’t kicked off yet, as often as you like, with no points penalty. Once a player’s match starts, they’re locked for that gameweek.

No. A vice-captain exists to insure a team that is frozen at one deadline, and nothing here is frozen. Every player stays editable until their own club kicks off. Gameweek Fantasy has one armband worth 2×, which you move yourself. (Fantasy XI, our single-match game, does still use a 1.5× vice-captain.)

You can take the armband off your captain at any point, even after their match has finished — that’s giving something up, so it’s always allowed. You just can’t hand the 2× to a player who has already kicked off (that would be hindsight): the new captain has to be someone whose match hasn’t started yet.

No. Only your Starting XI scores. But you’re never stuck: you can bench an already-played starter at any point to stop banking any more of their (bad) result — you’re only ever giving up points you already know about, never gaining hindsight. The player coming ON must not have kicked off yet, so the swap can’t be reverse-engineered from a result you already know. Left alone, your bench still pays off through the automatic substitutions that run at the end of the gameweek.

You can bench them, yes — dropping a starter who already played is always allowed, even full-time, because it only forfeits points you already know about. What you can’t do is bring in a bench player who has also already kicked off: the incoming player must still be pre-match. That one-way rule is what stops the whole squad being picked with hindsight after the fact.

Gameweek 1 uses FootballDream extended match statistics. From Gameweek 2, scoring follows Premier League matchday rules: playing time, goals, assists, clean sheets, saves, defensive contributions, cards, and bonus points (+3/+2/+1 for the top three in each fixture). Your captain still scores double.

Gameweeks open in advance so you can plan ahead, and you can enter any open gameweek. Each one has its own deadline: the kickoff of its first fixture.
