What is captain and vice-captain in Fantasy XI?

Quick Answer

Your captain’s points are doubled (2×) and your vice-captain’s points are multiplied by 1.5×, so pick the player you’re most confident will have a big game.

Every Fantasy XI squad needs one captain and one vice-captain, chosen from your 11 selected players before the match kicks off. Whatever points your captain earns from the match are doubled; your vice-captain’s points are multiplied by 1.5×. Both multipliers always apply, the vice-captain is a second armband, not a substitute that only counts if your captain doesn’t play.

Because these multipliers apply to whatever the player actually scores, the safest captain picks are usually attacking players in strong attacking teams: a goal or two from a doubled captain can be worth more than your entire back line combined.

This is a Fantasy XI rule. Gameweek Fantasy, where one squad runs across a whole gameweek, has a single 2× captain and no vice-captain, because every player stays editable until their own club kicks off, you just move the armband instead.
