Scoring overview

FootballDream rewards real football actions: playing time, goals, assists, clean sheets, goalkeeper saves, penalty saves, defensive contributions, and bonus-style performance points. Negative events such as cards, own goals, penalty misses, and goals conceded can reduce a player score.

Position matters

Goals are more valuable from defensive positions because they are rarer. FootballDream awards +10 for a goalkeeper goal, +6 for a defender goal, +5 for a midfielder goal, and +4 for a forward goal.

Defensive value is real

Modern fantasy scoring increasingly rewards defenders and defensive midfielders for more than clean sheets. FootballDream includes defensive contribution bonuses, which makes ball-winning players useful even when they do not score or assist.

Risk events to watch

  • Yellow card: avoid hot-headed players in intense derbies.
  • Red card: one dismissal can ruin an otherwise good pick.
  • Own goal: rare, but defenders under pressure carry more risk.
  • Penalty miss: relevant for penalty takers, especially in tight matches.
  • Goals conceded: goalkeeper and defender value drops quickly in chaotic fixtures.

Practical draft tip

Do not only draft famous attackers. A starting goalkeeper with clean-sheet potential and save volume can outscore a forward who blanks.
