La Liga Team Draft is the simplest way to compete with friends over a La Liga Jornada. Instead of building a squad of individual players, you and your friends draft clubs — and your points come entirely from match results. Win when your club wins. Pick up a point when they draw. Nothing complicated about it.
How La Liga Team Draft works
One of your group creates a private draft room and selects the La Liga Jornada they want to cover — Jornada 1, 2, or any future round. Every player in the room then takes turns drafting clubs from that Jornada's fixtures in snake order: the last pick goes first in the next round. Once the draft is done, sit back and let the real results score your board automatically.
Scoring — win, draw or lose
- WIN: your club wins the match → +3 points
- DRAW: the match ends level → +1 point
- LOSS: your club loses → 0 points
- Points update automatically as results come in — no manual entry needed
- The standings refresh after every finished La Liga fixture
Picking by Jornada — what that means
La Liga's season is organised into Jornadas (rounds), each typically spanning a weekend or midweek slot. When you create a Team Draft game you select which Jornada to cover. All fixtures from that Jornada appear in the draft lobby, grouped into collapsible round headers. Tick the whole Jornada header to include every match, or handpick individual fixtures — your club pool only contains the teams playing in the fixtures you've selected.
Strategy: which clubs to draft first
- Real Madrid and Barcelona are premium picks — strong win probability but everyone knows it.
- Athletic Club at San Mamés is one of La Liga's hardest home grounds to visit — excellent value.
- Atlético Madrid under Simeone remain fiercely competitive at home across all competitions.
- Look for strong clubs facing newly-promoted sides (Levante, Racing Santander, Málaga, Elche, Deportivo) in early Jornadas.
- Away form matters: check which elite clubs travel worst — Atlético and Betis are stronger at home.
- Don't overdraft Real Madrid and Barcelona in a small group — the snake order will correct for this anyway.
Why it works for La Liga fans
La Liga's structure is perfect for this format. Every Jornada has at least one marquee clash — El Clásico, the Madrid Derby, Sevilla vs Betis — plus a range of mid-table and relegation battles where the outcome is harder to predict. That range of difficulty means strong drafters aren't guaranteed to win: a promoted side beating an established club can swing a whole board.
Mixing La Liga and Premier League
If your group also follows the Premier League, you can run Team Draft games across both competitions using the league filter in the create panel. La Liga and Premier League share the same create flow — just switch the tab to Premier League when you want a GW-based game instead.
